BALAMB —
Bombs came out of the Fire Cavern, near Balamb, and reached the countryside below. Not a handful of them: there were so many that what came down toward the fields looked like an army. They spread panic among the people who live there and left a number of fires burning in the woods. SeeD units intervened and eliminated the creatures.
They were put down on the spot, every one of them, and the immediate danger is over. What remains is the damage: fires in the woodland around the cavern, and farming families who watched an army of monsters coming toward their houses.
None of the residents had ever seen anything come out of that cavern before. Neither had anyone else — and never in those numbers.
An incident without precedent
Nothing of the kind has ever happened at the Fire Cavern, and the sheer number of them is what makes this hard to file away. The incident remains under investigation: what pushed so many Bombs out at once, and why now, is not known.
The area has been placed under strict SeeD surveillance while the inquiry goes on. The creatures are gone. The mystery is not.
